EDUGATEBOX is available in two models at different price/performance points, so you can select a solution to fit your traffic load requirement without spending extra on performance you don’t need.
Matching hardware to workload
Everything you need get a computer lab online
Ideal for schools connecting to the internet for the first time, EDUGATEBOX020 hardware delivers sufficient processing power to manage up to 25Mbps of internet traffic from up to 20 devices.
This model has enough storage capacity to cache large software update files from Microsoft or Apple, store the entire Rachel Offline project library and still leave plenty of space for general web content.
EDUGATEBOX020 has a compact design, ideal for deployment in a classroom. As most schools getting connected don’t have a Wi-Fi network in place, it includes a Wi-Fi antenna, so your students can connect to EDUGATEBOX directly.
If your student devices will be used in more than one location, you can extend connectivity to other classrooms and buildings with additional Wi-Fi Access Points (APs). These can be purchased from any vendor (we’re happy to recommend some reliable, cost-effective APs used by our schools customers), and will connect easily to EDUGATEBOX.
Protect and optimise your Wi-Fi network
You may already have an internet connection and some Wi-Fi Access Points for student devices to get online across your school site.
EDUGATEBOX050 will protect and fully optimise that connection.
It contains enough processing power to provide filtering, traffic shaping and firewall services for connections up to 50Mbps. It also has more storage than EDUGATEBOX050 so you can cache far more content, ideal for when you’re make greater use of online content in classrooms.
Designed to support up to 50 devices, EDUGATEBOX050 is delivered in a half 1U rack-mountable chassis. It doesn’t include a Wi-Fi antenna. As such it should be deployed where your internet connection enters the school, with connectivity extended to classrooms via a wired network or Wi-Fi devices which connect to EDUGATEBOX.
CFast/SD for security, reliability and redundancy
EDUGATEBOX makes clever use of flash storage for your configuration data:
- In the unlikely event of failure, simply swapping cards to a replacement appliance will get you up and running with an identical system in minutes
- CFast/SD cards are proven to be much more reliable than hard disks. If you suffered an unexpected power outage, the risk of corruption to software or configuration data is minimised
