ApplianSys and N50 Partners announce EduLabs
Today, ApplianSys is proud to announce the launch of EduLabs, a ground-breaking public-private partnership that will improve digital literacy and access to technology for 23,000 families in 80 communities in the Dominican Republic.
The EduLabs initiative is the culmination of a unique collaboration between international humanitarian organization Food for the Hungry and a public-private alliance including the Dominican Republic Ministry of Education, Intel, Geeks without Frontiers, The N50 Project, Smart Technologies and ApplianSys.
The project in 80 public schools, located in areas that have previously suffered a deep digital divide, will establish Intel technology laboratories integrated with robust internet connectivity underpinned by ApplianSys’ EDUGATEBOX.
EduLabs is an affordable, cutting-edge, low-footprint solution that can operate even in areas with limited internet access. This solution would represent a 30-40% cost reduction per seat in hardware in comparison with traditional PC school labs.
“With EDUGATEBOX delivering robust internet on the narrowest of connectivity, and ApplianSys’ Central Management Console to allow the whole solution to be remotely deployed without onsite technicians, Edulabs will truly help unlock the power of digital learning where it’s really needed,” says ApplianSys Head of Education Technology, Roger Clark. “And not just for schools but for the entire community. EduLabs will help with everything from adult learning to improving local services, businesses and employment skills.
“ApplianSys has been on a mission to fix the connectivity problem in education for over a decade and I’m extremely proud that our solutions can play such a central role in Food for the Hungry’s initiative,” he continues. “It is only through collaboration between Ministries, NGOs, infrastructure and content partners that we will succeed in extending not just digital literacy, but the access to lifelong learning that’s critical to a 21st century workforce.”
