"We used to offer speeds between 500 and 800Kb/s but now we can offer an 800Kb/s minimum and an average of 1.5-2Meg per second"
Bob Ney, Support Engineer at Esplanade Wireless, USA
"Videos are cached and delivered so much faster now. At peak times we regularly see bandwidth savings of 75%"
Victor Hugo, Network Administrator, EMAX, Peru
"We're seeing a huge difference with CACHEBOX - we are getting 38% savings. I'm really happy!"
Ahmad Alrasheedan, Senior Consultant, Wireless Mobile Data Co, Kuwait
"Support were excellent and helped us to get the box deployed despite multiple complications and found some DNS issues using the reporting tools."
Ben Mukoro, COZ Internet Limited, USA

Caching the Un-cacheable: Video

CDNs-smNetwork Managers recognise that web caching can help them to manage the enormous increase in bandwidth-intensive video traffic experienced over the last decade. Because this traffic does not behave like simple HTTP web pages, some caching solutions struggle to deal with the complexity.

But thanks to specialist software from ApplianSys engineers, CACHEBOX has the intelligence to deal with this modern traffic:

Issues with video caching

CACHEBOX is the solution

Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) – many video sharing websites store the same content at multiple URLs. Many caching solutions treat each URL as unique content, so do not serve content from cache.

CACHEBOX’s video extensions solve this problem; it locates and serves video site content by identifying the underlying video object – regardless of which server it is requested from.

Rule changes – even if a caching solution can handle CDNs, websites often change the rules for presenting their content which can break caching mechanisms.

To keep up with rule changes, ApplianSys engineers continually update CACHEBOX’s CDN caching mechanisms. These updates are applied automatically to our customers’ CACHEBOXes via ‘sub-system updates.’

User behaviour – changing a video’s resolution, skipping forward and using other video controls can confuse a cache into storing multiple segments of a video that are not likely to be requested again.

CACHEBOX storage doesn’t get filled up with video fragments that have little chance of ever being served again.

Because CACHEBOX is versatile and scalable, our customers around the world come in all shapes and sizes. ISPs, education authorities, blue-chip multi-nationals, public sector bodies, small businesses, shipping fleets and hotels get more out of their bandwidth with CACHEBOX.
