Explore-ing faster with CACHEBOX
Explore Learning has purchased a fleet of 40 CACHEBOX050s to improve the speed of delivery for online education content at tuition centres in the UK.
The company provides after-school lessons to students in small classroom settings. A typical Explore Learning facility is served by a 2Mbps internet connection with up to 40 desktop computers online at any one time.
An attractive part of Explore Learning’s offering is the use of interactive online content and tools to reinforce learning. However, in recent years, this content has become increasingly bandwidth intensive and tuition centres that cannot access fibre optic connections have suffered from slow, congested links.
Now the company is investing in the latest edition of Pearson’s SuccessMaker to enhance the educational planning, monitoring and reporting services that it provides for each student. SuccessMaker requires a reliable, fast internet connection and, having worked with ApplianSys on a large caching deployment for Miami Dade School District, Pearson recommended that Explore Learning deploy CACHEBOX to speed up access at low bandwidth sites.
“With no technical expertise on-site, Explore Learning needed a straightforward caching solution with low maintenance requirements,” explains CACHEBOX Sales Executive Ross Horn. “With CACHEBOX, they get a tried and tested, reliable caching appliance that works well with SuccessMaker and has been designed for easy deployment, configuration and administration.”
With plans to expand into the US, enables Explore Learning to establish tuition centres in locations with scarce/expensive broadband without compromising the interactive content that makes it popular with students.
Explore Learning centres (http://www.explorelearning.co.uk/) provide award-winning tuition for children of all abilities. The Explore curriculum includes maths, English, creative writing, the Eleven Plus, Entrance exams and handwriting. The company create a development plan for each child, adapting to individual personal strengths and weaknesses.
