ApplianSys today announced Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council has selected DNSBOX to improve core IP services for its academic network. The education IT unit provides services to over 90 primary, secondary, grammar and special schools throughout the borough.

DNSBOX will replace an RM system that provides a number of services but prevents Trafford implementing best practice for core IP services. The ApplianSys architected solution will ensure greater security, reliability and redundancy by hiding the master behind a firewall and using dedicated slaves to resolve requests.

“We’ve been working with Trafford for a while now,” explains Mike Clark – CEO of ApplianSys. “In 2007 we acquired Freedom2, a content caching vendor who supplied Trafford. It’s good to know the quality of support we’ve been offering has had a positive influence on their choice for DNS.”

Trafford MBC (www.trafford.gov.uk) serves a population of 211,800 residents in the towns of Altrincham, Partington, Sale, Stretford, and Urmston, and borders the Greater Manchester region.
