Malaysia central to Asia Pac success

ApplianSys continues to build on a long history of success in Malaysia’s government sector by delivering a DDI solution to the National Security Council. In choosing DNSBOX to control and protect its highly sensitive network services, Malaysia’s Majlis Keselamatan Negara joins a prestigious list of patrons across federal departments and national projects.

Since a first CACHEBOX sale 10 years ago, the government sector has regularly chosen ApplianSys appliance-based solutions – dedicated DDI and web caching appliances that have met the national requirement for best fit at best value.

“This is the latest addition to our track record in Malaysia,” says Business Development Director Dave Gravell. “Our specialised, fit-for-purpose solutions continue to be chosen by ministries, government agencies and national project managers right across the region.”

Back in 2010, the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation (Perbadanan Kemajuan Kraftangan Malaysia), part of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture solved its slow internet issues by deploying a CACHEBOX200.

This was followed by a large fleet deployment of 750 CACHEBOXes as part of ‘1Malaysia’, a Universal Service Provision (USP) initiative to provide remote villages with free Wi-Fi services. Deployed at USP-managed Internet Cafes, the CACHEBOXes helped deliver sufficient internet access for villagers despite their narrow or limited internet links.

ApplianSys DDI solutions have also been in demand. Having found DNSBOX the only full feature solution at an affordable price, the Malaysian Dept of Survey and Mapping (Jabatan Ukur dan Pemetaan Malaysia, JUPEM) deployed full DDI solutions in each of its six offices.

The Prime Minister’s Office replaced its former Microsoft DDI solution with a comprehensive, fully scalable DNSBOX system to meet its internal IPAM, DNS and DHCP requirements – followed by the Royal Malaysian Police who also put their trust in ApplianSys technology.

One ingredient of this track record of success in Malaysia has been the support of long-standing local partners. By working closely with them, Techlab Security has ensured our government sector DNSBOX customers have benefitted from the smooth deployment and high performance DDI solution they need.

Finther Technologica was instrumental in helping deliver the fleet of CACHEBOXes that made the ‘1Malaysia’ village project such a success.

The long track record extends to the wider AsiaPac region.

The largest mobile and broadband service provider in Brunei, DST Multimedia, upgraded its DDI system with a comprehensive DNSBOX solution to better serve its 400k customer base. Progresif Cellular, another leading Brunei service provider, and state-owned telecommunications company, Telecom of Thailand, also chose ApplianSys solutions to help them deliver a premium service to their customers.

DNSBOX and CACHEBOX customers extend far across the many island nations of the Pacific. Regional expertise from 20-year ApplianSys partner PCTIme in Australia has been an important support for many of these. Country partners Blue Zebra in Thailand and Netplay in Philippines have also built many years of expertise in ApplianSys solutions and solid customer bases.

With Malaysia both at the heart of our AsiaPac success story and physically at the heart of the region, it was the obvious choice in 2017 for ApplianSys to base its new regional hub – in Kuala Lumpur. Now the heart of a well-established regional operation, co-ordinating with our established local partners to offer world class sales service and support, ApplianSys sees the AsiaPac region as a key part of its future and expects to continue expansion of its team in its KL hub.
