Startup ISP makes waves in Iraq
ApplianSys today announced that Waves, a start-up ISP in Baghdad, Iraq, has selected CACHEBOX to improve internet access and reduce bandwidth use by its customers. Low cost, fast internet access continues to be a problem in many areas of Iraq.
Following extensive testing of a CACHEBOX230 web caching appliance, traffic analysis confirmed a bandwidth saving of up to 30%. This alone allowed Waves to lift bandwidth restrictions for its customers during the trial period.
The original trial was conducted with support from Al-Thakira Company, an ApplianSys partner in Iraq. “With its subscriber base increasing rapidly and demand for access to sites like YouTube congesting links, the reduction in bandwidth has eliminated the need for Waves to buy faster, more expensive connections,” comments Vedrana Jovanovic, MENA channel manager, ApplianSys.
“As well as saving bandwidth and money for Waves, CACHEBOX has reduced browsing response times for subscribers, making them very happy with Wave’s service. CACHEBOX has definitely been a very worthwhile investment,” concludes the sales manager at Al-Thakira.
Waves is a newly created ISP proving wireless internet services across Baghdad. Al-Thakira Company provide a broad range of IT services including specific solutions for ISPs.
