Iran ISP caches for competitive edge
ApplianSys is pleased to announce that Iran’s largest independent telecommunications service provider has purchased 3 CACHEBOX420s as the first part of a project to introduce caching throughout its network.
Bandwidth prices in Iran are extremely high. By reducing the amount of capacity needed – and therefore its cost base – an ISP can gain significant competitive advantage. With 15Gbps core capacity the cost reduction for this ISP is game changing.
Caching Return On Investment (ROI) goes further than direct savings. Capacity freed up by CACHEBOX will enable the ISP to serve more customers without purchasing additional bandwidth. The service provider will also make web access faster for its customers by serving content locally and avoiding the congestion that results in internet requests being queued.
“Congestion during peak times would lead to complaints from the national regulator” explains CACHEBOX Sales Consultant David Zangouras. “By improving its customer experience, Iranian ISPs avoid pressure from the regulator to reduce congestion and increase customer satisfaction.”
This ISP knew that its competitors were using caching, so reviewed the various caches that they had deployed. They also identified some caches that their competitors had not, including CACHEBOX. It found that CACHEBOX420 could deliver the performance required at a very competitive price. So rather than simply catching up with competitors, the ISP can now pass on even greater savings to customers, gaining a price advantage.
The company plans to deploy a further 7 CACHEBOX420s in 2016.
