Juniper gets a booster
ApplianSys today announced that Juniper Solutions has selected CACHEBOX to help it provide a more responsive service and save bandwidth on its expensive VSAT links in Nigeria.
Juniper Solutions delivers an always-on broadband connection to the Internet using fast satellite links. Users can just switch on with Point-N-Play toolkit provided, point to the satellite, hear the locking signal and connect.
With rapid growth in users, Juniper Solutions wanted to avoid simply buying more expensive bandwidth. It decided web caching was the way forward. Rather than invest time and effort in an open source Squid implementation, it looked for an appliance solution.
With CACHEBOX230, ApplianSys demonstrated a plug-and-play solution that met this requirement. Juniper liked the solid state disks that provided high performance at the right price and the scalability to grow by adding a further unit and clustering with WCCP via their Cisco routers.
“Juniper clearly saw the benefits of this appliance, that it was simple to deploy and manage, would save time and money compared with building their own machine, and would quickly deliver a return on investment” said Roger Clark, Head of CACHEBOX Sales at ApplianSys.
“As with many other CACHEBOX users they can measure their return on investment very easily. In this case they are putting off investing in more bandwidth; effectively as they grow they can have 30% more users for every 10Mb of bandwidth they add.”
