DNSBOX keeps HUB rolling
ApplianSys is pleased to announce that HUB Advanced Networks, a leading wholesale provider of fibre optic infrastructure in Puerto Rico, has opted to upgrade its DNSBOX hardware to continue delivering exceptional services to its clients.
Since 2014, HUB Advanced Networks (formerly PREPA Networks) has relied on DNSBOX to provide secure DNS services that meet the growing demand of its corporate customers.
HUB replaced its previous DNS server with a DNSBOX400 master for centralised management and two DNSBOX200 slaves, serving authoritative and recursive DNS queries as separate services on the same physical server. This setup eliminates a single point of failure, lowers costs, and improves security by isolating the authoritative server from the more vulnerable DNS cache.
After 10 years of using DNSBOX, the benefits of the master-slave solution have proven to be worth the investment. “DNSBOX is easy to manage, handle, and it’s very stable,” explains Ruth Perez, NOC Supervisor at HUB. “It’s the best DNS server ever.”
To extend the lifecycle of its reliable solution and prepare for the future, HUB has chosen to perform a hardware refresh to replace its old DNSBOXes with new units at a discounted, hardware-only price.
“It’s a no-brainer for HUB. They have chosen to simply replace the hardware with a brand-new unit,” says Product Manager Dave Gravell, “benefitting from the latest appliance improvements and onboard technology at a fraction of the cost of buying a new one.”
