CACHEBOX easy as ABC for NES
ApplianSys is pleased to announce that Kuwaiti international school NES (New English School) has purchased a CACHEBOX230 to provide faster internet for its students and teachers.
NES has over 1,700 students and more than 200 staff members. Many teachers use video content in the classroom but slow download speeds cause lesson delays and can leave students disengaged.
The school recently invested in an expensive bandwidth upgrade from 3Mb to 50Mb. However this upgrade still hasn’t solved the issues that hinder education for NES students.
Nadr Rajab, the Head of IT for New English School, had previously deployed Squid to cache web content and serve it locally, improving speed in the classroom. But Nadr became frustrated with the amount of time he needed to spend managing the solution, as well as the lack of support. He eventually removed Squid from NES’ network.
Still interested in a caching solution, Nadr discovered CACHEBOX and was pleased to find that it gave NES the caching it needed but without any of the configuration and management headaches. As an appliance, CACHEBOX makes it easy to achieve high performance caching. The operating system and hardware setup is taken care of. Software configuration wizards, comprehensive reporting and server management features make deploying and managing CACHEBOX quick and easy.
And because CACHEBOX230 is a neat fit for NES’ performance requirement, it is more affordable than other commercial solutions that are designed for high throughput ISPs.
David Zangouras, ApplianSys CACHEBOX Sales Executive, comments: “A technician’s time is valuable so, because CACHEBOX requires very little management, it offers a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compared to other solutions. What’s more, comprehensive ApplianSys support allows customers like NES to get help when performance improvements are needed.”
