Congo grows with CACHEBOX310
ApplianSys announced today that ITM, a fast growing networking consultant and wireless internet service provider based in Kinshasa, Congo, has upgraded its CACHEBOX210 to CACHEBOX310.
Providing internet connections to hundreds of residential and corporate customers, ITM bought the CACHEBOX210 appliance last year to improve the quality of its service. As expected, the number of network users increased within months.
“We were prepared for this growth. In fact it was one of the reasons we chose CACHEBOX, as it would let us add more CACHEBOX units and deploy them in a cluster. But just when we were planning on doing this, ApplianSys released CACHEBOX310, a unit with four times the performance of CACHEBOX210, so we decided to upgrade to it,“ says Sajid Patel, the company Director.
“Many caching servers use hard disks for storing both small and large cached objects, resulting in long loading times. CACHEBOX separates files according to their size using hard disks for storing large objects, and solid state disks for small ones. This way the content can be accessed much quicker,” explained Business Development Director, Dave Gravell. CACHEBOX310 is particularly good at handling larger cached objects, such as video content, which take up a lot of ITM’s bandwidth. As a result, ITM can deliver content even more quickly and reliably.”
“CACHEBOX is doing its magic. We’re very happy with it,” said Sajid.”It has been working like a charm since the day we got it,” added Mohamed Ibrahim, the Network Engineer at ITM. Dave comments: “ITM expects their business to grow even further. When this happens, they can deploy more units in a cluster, which will exchange cached content between each other, saving more bandwidth.“
