CACHEBOX banishes Cyberia blues
Saudi ISP Cyberia has replaced its discontinued Blue Coat equipment with a CACHEBOX solution, maintaining the caching benefits of Quality of Service to its customers and reduced bandwidth costs to the business. ApplianSys is delighted to announce that the switch to CACHEBOX resulted in more of these benefits than before, at a significantly reduced cost.
Cyberia started its operations in Lebanon in 1996 and expanded to Jordan and Saudi Arabia soon after. It has designed a scalable network and products that offer a consistent, high-quality service to a rapidly growing customer base. Despite its rapid growth, it is one of the few ISPs that have insignificant network downtime.
Cyberia first understood the benefits of caching after several years of savings with Blue Coat’s CacheFlow appliance. But when Blue Coat discontinued the product and stopped all support, Cyberia was left empty handed.
Cyberia looked at alternatives. It quickly dismissed building its own Squid server as a bad idea. When it tested CACHEBOX, it was impressed by an overall bandwidth saving of 80% on its intercepted HTTP traffic.
CACHEBOX exceeded Blue Coat bandwidth savings and delivered everything Cyberia needed at an affordable price.
“Caching has been important to many ISPs for its contribution to their quality of service to their customers and to the profitability of their business. Many have used Blue Coat devices which are no longer supported. Customers like Cyberia are delighted to find that CACHEBOX offers better performance and is well-priced. And because CACHEBOX is so easy to deploy, they can quickly remove their end-of-life products before they present a security vulnerability,” explains CACHEBOX consultant Dave Gravell.
