Bontaz shifts DHCP into gear

ApplianSys is pleased to announce that automotive components manufacturer Bontaz Groupe hasĀ  begun a DNSBOX pilot in Brazil, the first step in replacing Windows-based DHCP across its international plants.

Bontaz runs a distributed manufacturing estate with between fifty and a few hundred devices at each site, and seven or eight subnets per plant. DHCP has been handled by Windows Server, with firewall-based DHCP at one or two locations.

As the group migrates services – including Microsoft Active Directory and DNS – to the cloud – it faced the question that follows every such migration: what happens to DHCP? Keeping on-premise Windows servers alive purely to hand out addresses was not something the team was prepared to do.

The group compared three vendors before selecting DNSBOX for the pilot. Bontaz has deployed DNSBOX appliances at the pilot site, with a view to rolling out across ten further locations and a test deployment in France.
