DNSBOX stars at Belgium Satellite
ApplianSys announced today that Belgium Satellite Services (BSS) – a leading satellite networking solutions provider in Belgium – has bought a DNSBOX solution to provide more reliable DNS services to its customers.
BSS offers customers managed DNS services including recursive DNS lookups and basic authoritative DNS, including setting up the MX and PTR records for its customers’ mail servers. The company previously used a 3rd party DNS provider to host the actual records.
DNSBOX Sales Executive Ross Horn comments: “BSS was concerned about customer satisfaction. The open DNS service it used created problems: every time a customer wanted a simple DNS change it would take up to two days for BSS to hear back from the external DNS service approving that change.”
BSS decided to deploy a DNSBOX solution at its own site, getting rid of the open DNS service altogether: a redundant pair of DNSBOX200 slaves would provide authoritative and recursive DNS while a DNSBOX400 master would centrally manage these tasks for easy administration.
“With DNSBOX’s user groups feature, any of BSS’ customers can log in with their own username and password to manage (only) their own zones. Recursive DNS queries are much faster and more consistent too. We’re now working together to deploy additional low-cost slave appliances closer to BSS’ customers across the globe,” says Ross.
Belgium Satellite Services was formed in 2007 following the acquisition of the satellite division of a leading European telecom operator – Belgacom – in 2007. The company provides custom made satellite networking solutions including hub and hosting services, IP over satellite, voice termination, and broadcast services (TV & Radio) for enterprise, wholesale and carrier customers.
