DNSBOX helps DDI bloom in Desert

ApplianSys is pleased to announce that Desert Development Company (DDC), Costa Rica, has chosen DNSBOX to replace its previous fragmented DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management setup to boost reliability of its core services.

For several years, the software development company used a mix of different solutions for DNS, DHCP and IP address management (IPAM).

Now, with over 600 mobile, PC and virtual devices to handle, IT Director Larry Gonzalez noticed that glitches in connectivity and service reliability were becoming increasingly problematic.

  • The Microsoft Active Directory (AD) servers used to handle DNS frequently became overloaded from handling an ever-increasing number of requests – often resulting in latency or slow speeds for end-users.
  • DHCP was handled by a switch, but without proper functionality to handle multiple subnets, configuration was limited – becoming increasingly demanding on the tech team
  • DDC’s Solarwinds IPAM solution had limited functionality and did not integrate with DNS and DHCP services – making it difficult to get useful reporting with the fragmented data available

It was obvious to Larry that DDC had not only outgrown its previous solution but also needed one that would automatically synchronise DNS and DHCP data. He researched online for an alternative integrated DDI solution.

A quick technical consultation and DNSBOX demo made it clear to Larry that it was not only easier to use than alternatives, but also far more affordable.

A pair of DNSBOX200 DNS / DHCP servers are now used to handle all DNS and DHCP requests, while a DNSBOX400 master is used for IPAM.

“DDC’s DNSBOX solution has slashed the time it takes to maintain these core services by integrating DNS and DHCP data – and allowing it to be viewed in real time from the DNS Management interface. Helpful reporting provides full visibility and control of their core IP services, allowing quick, easy network planning,” says DNSBOX Product Manager Magdalena Jovanovic.
