ApplianSys today announced Westpac Banking Corporation of Australia has selected DNSBOX to deliver core IP services to the bank. Serving over 10 million customers via 1,000 branches and agencies in the Pacific region, secure and reliable DNS and DHCP are essential to the bank’s ability to serve its customers.

The solution will be installed by IBM and supported by ApplianSys partner, PCTime.

“Security and reliability were critical to the banks decision, so the team at IBM threw all manner of tests at DNSBOX to make sure it was up to the job,” said Arthur Young of PCTime. “It passed with flying colours thanks to the way ApplianSys have wrapped NameSurfer software, a neat CompactFlash architecture and a custom Linux OS together to build a rock solid appliance.”

“The design of the DNSBOX range and its range of High Availability options means massively redundant architectures with rigorous standards – as demanded by customers such as Westpac and IBM – can be built easily and at a sensible price.”

Westpac has deployed multiple DNSBOX300 master and DNSBOX100 slave appliances serving its regional branch offices throughout Australia. Adhering to DNS best practice the ApplianSys architected solution ensures high levels of reliability and security from the ground up.
